11/16/91 FAXLIST (Version 1.0) (C)1991 by Paul B. Candler
FAXLIST is a Dialing Utility for use with the IBM PS/2 Internal Data
Fax Modem Card for Model L40 SX. I wrote this because my boss has a Lap Top
with the Fax Modem Card and asked me for some kind of an interface to make
the thing easier to use. So, Here's Version 1.
I intend to write a New Version with additional features like: a Print
Function, more data fields per company (Contact Name, Voice #, etc..), a
seperate Fax Header for Each Company. It will also have Windows & Mouse
support.
This program is NOT Public Domain. I am distributing it as Shareware.
If you intend to keep and use it please mail me a Check or Money Order for
$25.00. NO Cash Please. I will send you the new version mentioned above.
INSTALLATION
Just Copy the files contained in the .ZIP file into the same directory
as your IBM FAX program. You should find the Following:
FAXLIST.EXE - The Executable Program File.
FAXLIST.CFG - The Current Settings from SETUP.
FAXNAMES.DAT - The Fax Names & Phone Numbers.
LOCATION.DAT - The 30 Calling From Locations.
FAXLIST.DOC - The Documentation. (This File).
FEATURES
The program currently allows the maintenance of 200 company records.
Each record has the Name, Area Code & Fax Number of a customer, client,
whatever. The Area Code is stored seperately so the program can deside if
it is making a local or long distance call. There are unique dialing
prefixes for each type of call.
There are 30 seperate locations each with its own Area Code, Local,
and Long Distance Dialing Prefix. You may use the Setup Screen to Maintain
these Location Codes and set the 1 from which you are currently calling.
There are also options to set the Fax Document Directory, and to enter the
name of your Favorite Text Editor.
COMMANDS
E - Edit: Prompts for a record # to Edit. You may Enter a 25 character
Company Name, 3 Digit Area Code, and up to 20 characters of Phone
#. You may follow the Phone # with an extention if required. Use
"," for a pause in the dialing.
F - Find Name: Prompts for a Character String to Search for in the Company
Name Field. Search is from the 1st character of the name and
is not case sensitive.
R - Receive Fax: Prompts for a File Name to Receive a Fax transmission. If
the "Fax Directory" option is specified the file will be
created in that directory.
S - Send Fax: Prompts for a File Name to Transmit & the Company # to which
it should be transmitted. The Area Code of the Company will
be compared with that of the Current Location and either the
Local or Long DistancePrefix & Area Code will be used. Again
the "Fax Directory" will be used.
V - View Fax: Prompts for a Fax File Name to be Viewed. The "Fax Directory"
will be used if specified.
Q - Quit: Terminates the Program and returns to DOS.
F1 - DOS Shell: Starts a secondary command processor. Enter the "EXIT"
Command to return to the FAXLIST Program.
F2 - Setup: Displays the FAXLIST Setup Screen. Here you may enter up to 30
seperate calling locations. Each location has its own "Local" &
"Long Distance" Dialing Prefixes. The Area Code of the Location
will be checked against the Area Code of the Company being
called to determine what Prefix to use for dialing.
A - Document Directory: Tells the Program in what Directory (if any),
want you faxes files to be stored. The directory
MUST exist before using this program.
B - Editor Name: Enter the exacutable name of your favorite test editor.
This is what will be called by using the "F3" command.
C - Current Location: Enter the Number of the Location from which you are
currently making your calls. The Area Code & Prefix
required will be used for dialing.
F2 - Main Menu: Saves the Specified Options and returns to the Main Menu.
F3 - Text Editor: Allows you to activate the Text Editor of Your choice.
Required DOS paths should be in place to be sure the
editor will run correctly.
F4 - Configure Fax: Calls the "FAX" program with the "options" parameter.
This allows you to reconfigure the fax programs
operational parameters, Dialing Type, Resolution, Comm
Port, etc..
Pg Up - Scroll Up: Rolls the displayed records back 1 screen. If display is
on record 1 the program will wrap around to the last
screen of records.
Pg Dn - Scroll Down: Same as UP, but in the opposite direction.
Home - First Page: Takes the display to the first page.
End - Last Page: Takes the diplay to the last page.
I hope you get some use out of this utility. If you do please let me
know by sending a check or Money Order, NO CASH please, for $25.00.
I spent a good deal of time writing, testing, and documenting it. I am
going to start the new version as soon as I send this one out. I will send
this to you as soon as it is properly tested & documented.
Please let me know if I missed anything so I can put it in the new
version. Thank you again for your support.
